Launched in 2022, the project “Baby Buddy Communicators” project aims to enhance the communication skills of practicing and in-training midwives that aid them in providing midwifery services of high standards. BF is the Coordinator for this project, in partnership with Cyprus University of Technology, Ghostthinker GmbH and Humboldt-Universitaet Zu Berlin (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin).

Birth Forward, representing the voice of the user and the holder of the experience, through the mothers who participated, worked with the trainers (educators from Cyprus University of Technology) to formulate scenarios mirroring clinical reality on topics with real-life relevance, that included elective c-sections, postpartum mental health, breastfeeding, premature labor. Then, mothers with personal, “lived” experience with these topics, became “actors” who role-played with the midwives (both practicing and in-training). The mothers then “evaluated” the experience, providing feedback to the practicing and in-training midwives that is of real-life value, targeted at further sharpening their communication skills. Feedback was initially provided in person, following the end of the role-plays, then continued asynchronously online, in the educational platform applied to this project (Edubreak® Campus) where the recorded performances were uploaded.
